This Week's Puzzler

Tummy Attack

Time for the puzzler.

This is not automotive.

Here we go.

The other night I had a gastrointestinal attack in the middle of the night. Lots of pain. Just terrible.

It may have had something to do with that double achovy pepperoni pizza I had at 11 o'clock... But lesson learned.

Anyway, in the middle of the night, I wake up moaning and groaning, clutching my stomach, and I find myself at the medicine chest looking for some medicinal relief.

I pull out the bottle of the stuff, which I recognize by its shape and color, and lo and behold, I can't read the infinitesimally small print on the bottle. So, clutching my stomach, I make my way to the bedroom and find my glasses on the dresser. And I come back and I put them on, and even with my glasses, I still can't read it. The print is just too small.

Now I'm ready to just guzzle it down because it hurts so bad and I was afraid to wake up everyone in the house. But I don't want to take the wrong dose, because too little is as bad as too much.

And to make matters even worse, as I'm bent over in pain, my glasses fall off my head and they break in half.

And yet, a minute later, I was tucked in bed, tucked under the covers, having taken the correct dosage.

How did I do it? Nobody woke up to help. How did I do it?

Good luck.

Another Matchstick Puzzler

This one came in from a dear friend who also listened to the show for many years.

Here it is.

This is another matchstick puzzler. So gather up whatever you used the first few times.

Using matchsticks, write the following Arabic numbers.

One, and then with two matchsticks make a plus sign, plus one plus eleven.

So 1 + 1 + 11.

No equals sign. Just 1 + 1 + 11.

Now the puzzler is this.

By moving only one matchstick, make this equal 130.
