This Week's Puzzler

The Sputtering Honda Accord

A Honda Accord has a weird habit. Every once in a while, right after stopping, it starts bucking and sputtering like it’s about to quit… then, after a minute or two, it’s perfectly fine. And the problem disappears for weeks.

The owner checks everything. Finds nothing. Shrugs. Life goes on.

Then one day, while jacking up the car for inspection, a nearly empty can of brake fluid rolls out from under the front seat.

Aha.

He goes inside, asks his partner one question… and instantly figures out the problem.

What did he ask?

Remember last week's puzzler?

The $10 Million Coin Flip Trap

A guy is at a party thrown by Bill Gates. They get to talking, and Gates proposes a little game.

A coin will be flipped 10 times. On each flip:

Either Gates calls it, or the other guy calls it.

Gates wins if he’s right—or if the other guy is wrong.

The only way to beat Gates is to call correctly when it’s your turn.

Then Gates says:
“I’ll bet $10 million to your $1,000 that someone in this room could win all 10 flips in a row.”

The question is, is this a sucker bet… or should the guy grab it?
